This paper looks at the latest trends in the market with respect to core system replacement and outlines Microsoft’s strategy for larger banks that are considering a service-oriented architecture (SOA)–based approach to migrating their legacy core systems from mainframe and midrange platforms to a new generation of commodity hardware platforms that run the Windows Server® operating system and that are capable of supporting the largest core banking operations.
