An overview of the Microsoft platform as enterprise class and datacenter ready. Talks to the mainframe audience in their terms, e.g., I use terms such as “Systems Programmer” and “Operator” (versus Administrator) and programming “maintenance backlog”. Starts with the datacenter class HW Windows runs on, then W2k3 as a “real” OS like z/OS, then touches on integrated security, and then layers on top of that Microsoft servers for data and manageability. Closes with a few slides on software development. An achived copy of this TechNet webcast delivered in January 2005 by Stan (Stawsh) Murawski, mailto:StanMu@Microsoft.com, Microsoft Lead Evangelist for IBM Mainframe Migration may be found at http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032268753&Culture=en-US.
