Until 2004,
the mainframe played an important role in the processing of administrative
information. However, due to the liberalization of the energy market, another
way to manage the organization, including IT, was
needed. A project to migrate the applications and large amounts of historic and
complex data from the mainframe was started. DELTA selected the METASUITE
product and carried out the migration project in-house with the help of IKAN
consultants. Music authors and publishers set up Buma one year after the 1912 Dutch Copyright Act was passed. Stemra was founded over twenty years later. Both are private organizations, of which Buma holds special authorities in the field of copyrights.

Until the spring of 2005, the IDMS on BS2000 mainframe played a crucial role in the administrative process at Buma/Stemra. In light of new developments in digital rights management and artists’ copyright, improved international cooperation and the forseeable exploitation of the mechanical right, in the summer of 2004 the Board of Buma/Stemra decided to implement a new automation system based on Microsoft Axapta. Buma/Stemra chose IKAN, its METASUITE product and the joint data migration services of Accenture and IKAN for its migration project.
